Introduction

An update is available for Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Monitoring Reports. The update enables you to use a report named the Call Leg Media Quality Report to view the quality of audio calls in a Lync Server 2013 environment. This report provides a comparison view of the volume and media quality of audio calls that are routed through a call leg between the following network devices:
  • The Mediation Server and a gateway
  • The Mediation Server and the Audio/Video Conferencing Server
The report also enables you to identify and resolve issues of audio quality that are caused by media server connection issues. The media server connections create a core network infrastructure that makes sure that a high audio quality is maintained in the Lync Server 2013 environment.

Note Toresolve infrastructure issues as an administrator, follow these steps:
  1. Run the Call Leg Media Quality Report.
  2. Analyze the volume and media quality of calls that are routed between the network devices and judge whether the volume and media quality are consistent over time.
  3. If multiple connections to a Mediation Server have bad audio quality, check the server performance report to determine whether the issue is caused by a specific Mediation Server or network.
  4. Depending on the results of step 3, check the Mediation Server, or contact the network administrators to address network issues such as misconfigured routers or Quality of Service (QoS) issues.
